Marina Del Rey History

Pickn' Chicken Bar-B-Q

The site of Marina Del Rey used to be a well known destination for local residents.  Pickn' Chicken Bar-B-Q restaurant was located at 319 Lake Shore Blvd West, but the address was later changed to 2261 Lake Shore Blvd West.  Pickn' Chicken had Lake Ontario at their back door and the owner Gerry Golberg allowed dump trucks to deliver landfill that now houses Marina Del Rey and its waterfront parks.

Gerry sold the property in the 1970's to a developer who was planning to build a large world class hotel, but due to political presuure those plans were dropped. The property changed ownership more than once until it was finally purchased by Camrost Corporation.
